Vilau has created HIRU TELEBISTA, a new educational channel on the Internet

This on-line life-long learning television channel, the result of an initiative by the Basque Government Department of Education, Universities and Research, first started broadcasting in April 2009.

The key characters on this new WebTV are teachers and students from Basque Vocational Training Centres who demonstrate, through HIRU Telebista, useful processes related to the subjects they teach/study. All the information is given through short videos, using an attractive, accessible and very modern audiovisual format.

Thanks to this innovative format, designed by Vilau, viewers can learn, in a question of minutes, a whole range of useful and necessary skills, from simple things such as changing a car wheel or brake pads, to much more specialist activities, such as micro-pigmentation of the lips or installing an automatic video entryphone.

The principal objective of Hiru Telebista is to serve as a useful tool available to all as a resource for learning and information.

During this first phase of the project, a selection of "broadcast" videos are provided with fortnightly updates. HIRU also has two sub-channels: one focusing on vocational training, which shows videos made by both students and teachers, and another focusing on leisure activities, featuring music videos, films and cooking tips, etc.

But this is only the beginning, since in the near future the idea is to add more sub-channels and more specialist areas.

HIRU Televista is also interactive in that it provides viewers with the opportunity of adding comments and assessing the videos shown. The most voted videos are featured on the homepage.

Furthermore, if viewers wish to see a video not currently being broadcast, they can easily find it using the website´s search engine, which provides access to a wide range of images sorted into centre, topic or date.

In addition to defining and developing the channel, Vilau is also responsible for its management and maintenance, at both a technical and content-based level, in direct collaboration with EITB and the Basque Government Department of Education, Universities and Research.
