The Lizarrusti interpretation centre, technologically natural.
Coinciding with the 15th anniversary since the declaration of Aralar as a Natural Park, the Vilau company, applying the new resources of technological communication, has renewed the image of Lizarrusti. An innovative offer for the public and a different way of understanding the management of natural spaces.
Located on the southeastern border of the province of Guipúzcoa, which encompasses part of the Aralar mountain range, is Lizarrusti, a labyrinth of mountain peaks and valleys, with a great number of cultural manifestations which give this natural setting a unique character.
The installations of the Lizarrusti Parquetxe, closed since 2006, have been renovated by Vilau to cope with the new demands of leisure facilities. A space of their own which has been restored to diffuse their historical heritage.
In the car park of the building, visitors will see a number of panels which will help them learn about the reality of Aralar and find information on the routes which start in Lizarrusti and travel through the Natural Park.
The interpretation centre is located inside a centenary building which has had its structure and dimensions reformed by Vilau, and which has accesses for disabled people.
The new technologies give the opportunity to interpret the natural and cultural heritage of the park, and to this end a number of resources have been installed which offer a variety of information to the visitor.
The user can get to know the area thanks to the video recorded in a helicopter over the Sierra of Aralar .
Through spyholes located in fictitious stones and tree trunks, the visitor can discover the natural and cultural resources of Lizarrusti, an historical location which goes back thousands of years.
To visualise the different routes available, an interactive scale model has been installed which shows the walks on offer and the most spectacular landscapes in the area.
The last room of this centre is destined mainly to the enjoyment of the surroundings and to rest; both adults and children can read here, listen to music and get information on Aralar, thanks to a number of listening posts and interactive screens.
The Lizarrusti project is part of a series of actions destined to the conservation of protected natural spaces in this territory, financed by La Caixa with a total of 1.2 million euro over three years, according to the agreement signed with the Provincial Council in 2006.
