All the inspiration of Picasso in the exhibition "Guernica, from the process to the work of art".

The work of one of the icons of contemporary art is currently showing at the Regional Library of Bilbao through 42 preparatory sketches on paper. The Vilau company has set up in its totality an exhibition which reviews the process the genius went through to create the Guernica.

The exhibition is a facsimile edition which includes 750 copies numbered and published in 1990. This spectacular work, property of the Regional Government of Biscay, is registered with number 8 from the total of those published and represents a faithful reproduction of the original sketches drawn by the Malagan artist.

Vilau intended to set up a Pablo Picasso exhibition different to any other done before. A clear example of this is the interactive representation of the Guernica. The visitor can, by means of a screen, interact with and access a representation of the painting, on a global and individual level. By clicking on the application the spectator gets information in three languages (Spanish, English and Basque) on each one of the characters on the canvas (the bull, the horse, the mother with her child...)

Just like the work of Picasso, the exhibition is an example of innovation. The team from Vilau has carried out important research which is represented by means of new techniques and spaces for expression.

"Guernica, from the process to the work of art" includes six monoliths which review the artist?s biography, the pictorial stages he went through, the historical context he created the canvas in, the genesis of the assignment the author received, the elaboration of the work and an extensive description of the famous painting.

The exhibition can be visited free of charge at the Regional Library of Bilbao (C/Diputación 7- Bilbao) until next October.
