MEDIATUR enters into its second phase
MEDIATUR, "New experiences in the management of tourist contents", is a unique, strategic project of eNEM (Spanish Technological Platform for Networked Audiovisual Technologies), supported by the government?s Research, Development and Innovation Department and funded by the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade as part of the sub programme Plan Avanza I+D in 2008.2011.
Vilau is the leader of this project in which a consortium of 13 Spanish companies and universities participate.
From the beginning of its execution in 2008, it has developed a powerful software and communication platform on which to build a great diversity of tourist services that are accessible from mobile devices as well as from the Internet. Throughout 2009, the various associations worked on several developments which are expressed in a preliminary prototype that was presented at this year?s edition of Fitur.
Therefore, MEDIATUR has already given some very advanced results, although the research project itself still has all of 2010 left for technological development and service engineering.
MEDIATUR is a great example of how Information and Communication Technologies can make a decisive contribution to the growth and excellence of the tourist industry, offering better experiences to tourists and opening the door to new business models for destinations, tourist information offices and, in general, all the agents of the sector.
Thinktur, the Tourism Technological Platform, considers the project to be of great interest, both for its technological aspect as well as its possibilities in the market.
